On Sunday 06 May, the 2018 edition of the South Tyrol stud book registration in Merano/Meran saw a total of 139 Haflinger mares born in 2015 lined up to be assessed and ranked with the aim of being entered in their respective breeding registers.
Out of the latest generation of three-year old horses, 34 mares were awarded IB breeding value class ratings (very good) – that's 25% of all candidates evaluated.14 mares missed the top category by a hair's breadth and were rated IIA+ (good+). Another 48 young mares were classified IIA (good) and 38 were rated IIB (satisfactory), while one mare was found to be third-class. Four mares were deferred and will be presented for evaluation at a later point.
Breeder Peter Braun was in for an unforgettable day: His mares V-Biuti PB BZ28489 and V-Bonita PB BZ28490 were crowned overall Show winner and runner-up, respectively. Waltraud Innerhofer's Viona BZ28389 came in third.
