The foals presented to the audience in the final round of this year’s South Tyrolean Foal Championship were brimming with grace and charm. Dr Andrea Sgambati praised the breeders’ achievements: “These foals are the very best of their generation, and they illustrate just how high the breeding standard is in South Tyrol.” Together with Jan Oonk from the Netherlands and Haflinger expert Christine Kofler, he was in charge of selecting the cream of the crop from among 69 candidates. Federation Chairman Dr Erich Messner, too, was deeply impressed by the high profile of the event, which was broadcast live – as was the subsequent auction, which was also open to online bidding.
The organisers are currently working on a new concept for the auction format, aiming to bring supply and demand together in an even more targeted manner.
